Gem County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors

The Gem County Chamber of Commerce is a membership based non-profit organization overseen by a board of directors.

Board members must be current GCCC members and are elected by the membership of the GCCC. There are nine board members plus the Executive Director.

TERMS

Board positions serve a two-year term. Board terms are staggered so that only five positions come up for expiration in even years, four positions expire in odd years. This staggered process provides for continuity of processes and information and insures that the board operates as smoothly as possible.

DUTIES

• Directors are expected to attend all GCCC Board Meetings. The GCCC Board of Directors meets the second Wednesday of each month.
• Directors act as a GCCC spokesperson and represent the GCCC's work and values to the community.
• Directors actively participate in GCCC fundraising activities and special events.
• Directors work closely with the GCCC to keep current on GCCC issues as well as relevant community issues.
• Directors have voting rights and responsibilities on matters brought before the Board.

THE ELECTION PROCESS

• One ballot is mailed to each GCCC member by November 17th each year.
• Each GCCC member is allowed to vote for up to five candidates.
• Ballots are due back to the GCCC office on or before the 1st business day in December before 5:00 pm each year.
• Ballots may be returned by mail, fax or personal delivery.
• Official results are announced on the second business day of December each year.
• Elected board members serve a two-year term commencing on January 1st following the election.

GCCC Board of Directors are an important part of the Chamber organization. Their hands-on work and wise guidance helps to make the Gem County Chamber of Commerce an effective and respected organization.
