Business Name: B & W Fuels/Wild Willy’s

“Grandpa’s (Bill Webb) dream was to create a place where family could work, provide jobs and teach good work ethics,” said B & W Fuels and Wild Willy’s owner, Kay Webb.

The B & W dream began in 1953 when Bill went to work for Kay’s (Bork) dad driving their fuel truck. Bill and Kay were married in 1957 and in 1967 incorporated B & W Fuels, located behind Bork Motors on Washington. In 1978, Bill and Kay moved the fuel delivery business to the current location and added a little store with 4 fuel pumps.

“When we bought dad out in ’78 there were 13 wholesale fuel dealers in the valley,” said Kay. “We’re the only ones left. The community has been good to support us and the community needs this business.”

Fuel Delivery is critical to many industries in Gem County and throughout Idaho including farming, logging, mining and other small fuel suppliers as well as home owners who depend on fuel delivery for heating oil. B & W now runs a fleet of three fuel trucks and also offer bulk oil including motor oil and hydraulic oil.

“We definitely appreciate the community,” agreed Travis Webb, Manager. “We diversified our business and between the C-store (Wild Willy’s), fuel delivery and fuel pumps, we have managed to survive economic times and maintain our customers.”

Wild Willy’s was named as a tribute to the late Bill Webb who passed during the store’s construction in 1998. The store grew to 1950 sq ft with 8 fuel pumps, 6-key pumps and a deli.

“The store caters to locals and the person heading to the hills or water who needs ice, beverages and those last minute camping items,” said Travis. “Emmett is still a small town. We can build relationships and know the majority of the people we serve. Grandpa’s dream did come true. I love my job and this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. I hope to own the business one day. This business has been in the family all these years and hopefully my future kids will work here. We value our employees and treat them like family, too.”

Travis shared, “After Bork Motors closed, many of his Bob’s older customers missed the full-service offered. Bob hangs out at Wild Willy’s on Thursday mornings from 6 to 10 and provides old fashioned full service; fuel, windows and check the oil. There are still a handful of folks who come in every week. That’s caring.”

 Services offered at B & W/Wild Willy’s include propane fill, Fish & Game services, 24/7 fuel access. Open 6am – 10pm, M-F & 6am – 9pm, Sun, 1900 N. Washington Ave, 365-2291.
