The Annual Gem / Boise County Fair & Rodeo
The annual Gem /Boise County Fair & Rodeo is always held over the first weekend in August. Gem and Boise Counties come together for this week-long event.
The fair features many 4-H animal and home arts exhibits and competitions. There is always free entertainment on the midway stage each day and concerts in the evening. Local organizations and other vendors have food booths selling everything from grilled burgers to cotton candy.
Commercial exhibitors can be found in the Expo building along with Open Class exhibits. Each year brings bigger and better, new and unusual entries. This is where anyone in Gem or Boise County can enter their crafts, cooking, canning, photography, produce, flowers or sewing to be judged.
The fair is 4-days of fun for the entire family. Admission to the fair is only $1.00. Rodeo admission is additional.
The rodeo is a 3-day event held Thursday - Saturday of fair week, starting at 8:00 pm every evening. The rodeo is an ICA (Idaho Cowboy Association) sanctioned event with special local events for Gem and Boise County residents.
One of the most popular local rodeo event is Mutton Bustin' for the 4 - 6 year old rodeo kids.

The rodeo is a favorite event each year with local contestants riding and roping for fame, fortune and mostly fun.

Cowboys and Cowgirls come out to participate, watch and visit with friends and family.

Jacob Mellenthin with 2008 Grand Champion Market Beef. Jacob also won 2008 Breeding Heifer and was 2008 Grand Champion Showman. Kids of every age participate and benefit from their involvement and training in 4-H programs.

4-H kids raise animals of every kind. Their projects take dedication and commitment while they learn valuable life skills.
