Youth Appreciation Day
Youth Appreciation Day - Annual Community Event to Celebrate Youth
Youth Appreciation Day has become one of Gem County's premier annual events. Established in 2005, Youth Appreciation Day was created by the Emmett Rotary Club as a way to let the youth know they were appreciated, expose young people to the many opportunities for recreation available to them and provide a fun, safe day where all activities were free.
Since its beginning, many other organizations have joined in to grow this event. Collaborative efforts include or have included Starfish Promise Coalition, Gem/Boise County 4-H, Emmett Ministerial Association, Gem County Recreation District, Emmett Crime Prevention and Emmett Headstart.
The event is always held on the last Saturday in April following the Emmett Rotary Youth Auction on Friday night. The Island provides the perfect venue for the ever-growing event which has seen an annual increase in participating partners.
